The mission of Edison Junior Design Laboratory is to invent new ideas in large markets where our teams creativity and intelligence can be leveraged to disrupt the current landscape.

In particular, we specialize in the design and development of technology products. We're constantly creating innovative products that solve real world problems.

In addition, we also provide business advisory services, consultancy and information; Business development services, namely, business consulting, business planning, business networking services, formulating business strategies for start-up and emerging companies, assisting in recruiting, management guidance on personnel placement, and providing co-working facilities equipped with office equipment.

Meet the Team

  • James Siminoff - Chief Inventor

    In 1998 while a Junior at Babson College, James founded Your First Step International, Inc., a company that assisted entrepreneurs in bringing ideas from concept to fruition. In 2000, the company pivoted to building and operating global wholesale Voice over IP networks in developing countries including Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Africa.

    In 2002 Jamie merged YFS into Nobel Ltd. which has become the largest online calling card company in the world. When James exited the company in 2006 sales were over $60 million and the company had over 200 employees.

    In 2003 while at Nobel, Jamie co-founded NobelBiz, a VOIP company focused on the call center business. The company was spun out as an independent company in 2006. Jamie is still a principal in NobelBiz, which now has sales in excess of $15 million annually.

    In 2005, inspired by the archaic nature of voicemail, Jamie founded the world's first voicemail-to-text company, PhoneTag. In September of 2009 PhoneTag completed a transaction worth $17 million with Ditech Networks (nasdaq: DITC). Jamie continues to hold the position of Chief Strategy Advisor.

    In 2010 Jamie founded to assist email users in cleaning commercial email from their inboxes. In 2011 was sold to personal security company, TrustedID.

    Jamie is currently the President of NobelBiz and CEO and Chief Inventor of Edison Junior. Jamie has received numerous awards for his accomplishments in entrepreneurship including the 2007 Entrepreneur Award from Crain's Business New York. Jamie holds a Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship from Babson College.

  • Rodrigo Pavano - Senior Developer

    Rodrigo is a passionate developer with extensive experience in Ruby on Rails. He loves the challenge that comes along with designing and building new products.

    Prior to Edison Junior, he co-developed and maintained SequreISP. Rodrigo has a wide range of skill sets, from database management, to backend systems, to front end web development.

    When he's not coding he enjoys playing the guitar and doing yoga.

  • August Cziment - Director of Operations

    August Cziment began working in the technology sector in 2009 where he managed business development initiatives with Ditech Networks. There he focused on growing strategic partnerships for the PhoneTag product.

    August then began working for, a company that assists users with ridding their inbox of unwanted commercial email. He worked closely with the CEO and technology team to create innovative products such as SafeSend, a free email extension that converts standard email clients into highly effective email marketing tools.

    When was aquired by credit monitoring and identity protection company, TrustedID, in 2011 August continued to manage product development. There he oversaw the integration of credit monitoring and identity protection services into larger financial institutions, enabling them to offer those services to their vast user base.

    August holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

  • John Modestine - Product Designer

    John Modestine is an industrial and graphic designer. John is a pro at bringing ideas and concepts to fruition, which is the result of his desire to succeed, and the fact that he's forced to work 100+ hours a week.

    He has experience in product design consulting, working for Definitive Design in Langhorne, PA. He has also taken on graphic design projects for Doylestown Brewing Company, and the Village Tavern in North Wales, PA. John is a graduate of Philadelphia University, where he holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design.
